Thomas Simoneaux? Wades son? I coach him in SATS basketball when he was like 12. Really good kid. Interesting.

Great stuff, as usual, JP! A few newcomers are interesting...particularly the pitcher from Tulane. I'm also very interested to see if Tyler Girourd can walk on and earn a spot. And the Simoneaux kid coming here. What's up with that?

The kid has ALWAYS wanted to be a Ragin Cajun. That didn't change when Wade went to Tech.

This may be one of the more competitive falls we have had here in a very long time. It Otta be fun to watch. Some really talented young kids will end up redshirting I'm sure. I see a good mix of young and old....these next few years may be special.

Agreed. Just the list of walk-ons is quite impressive. And that former Tulane signee was an absolute steal.

Per Perfect Game on de Gruy after a January 2010 (pre-season) showcase:

Jacques De Gruy is a 2010 RHP/1B/3B with a 6'4'', 195 lb. frame from Dallas, TX who attends Jesuit-Dallas HS. Very good pitcher's build, projects strength. Smooth easy arm action, quick and easy coming through, ball comes out easily. Pitching mechanics works better when stays taller and throws downhill. Mid 80's fastball, touched 87/88 mph frequently with good running life, low 70's CB was nasty at times, potential plus pitch, inconsistent due to delivery. Quality arm to develop. Showed some bat speed and power with the bat, uses strength well, aggressive swing. Signed with Tulane.
PG graded him at the top of the pile (10/10). With UNO now D3 and Tulane struggling with "stuff", the pickings should improve. This is huge.....Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Jacques had several choices post Tulane but chose UL primarily due to Coach Robe.. He has alot of respect for Coach Robe and believes that he can continue to improve playing for him. Based on several people we have spoken to, Jacques has a very high upside. Hopefully, he will grow and develop into another of Coach Robe's top guns!
