Bob Marlin Announces First Recruiting Class

_ My daughter went to Coach Marlin's Basketball camp. She is 11 and stated it was the best camp she ever went to. She liked all of the coaches and players. If the Cajuns play the style that was taught at the camp get ready for up and down the court with an emphasis on defense and passing to get the easy basket. I really can't wait to see how they play. _

An emphasis on passing and defense; the only way I've ever believed the game should be played. I'm pumped! I've been waiting for this since 98'... It's about time.

_ The Men's basketball team have wasted no time getting started. Even not being able to get into the practice facility has stopped them. They have been playing every day at Bourgeois.
I talked to one of the new recruits and he said Andrews has taken the lead in getting them together to work out. Seems like he is doing what a point guard and team leader should to get the team ready. I am sure Marlin has to like seeing that in him. The recruit said "Raymone is a real nice and has welcomed them all". It was good to see the old and new coming together. Can't wait for the season to start. _

Why has the basketball team not been able to use the indoor facility recently. There is no reason they should not have access to these courts.

No reason unless there was work done to the courts. Judging by the smell in the indoor facility recently, that's exactly what happened.

Floor was redone....as per Coach Marlin last week.

This class was put together on the fly...with ZERO prep and almost ZERO time. And yet, I can't help but think it is as strong as our last 3 or 4 were. Can't wait to see what this staff can do with a full season to scout and recruit.

Zay jackson from STA has an offer from us. It will depend on how his sr season goes. He has a few other offers from local school he was leaning towards UTEP cause of Floyd being the coach. Some bigger schools are intetested last I heard Ole Miss was looking hard. I of course suggest UL to Coach Gauff when I see him at meetings.

That is exactly what i'm thinking. And not to mention that marlin had to put together a staff before he could start recruiting. as for andrews, i love him. He is gonna be so good. Not a strong shooter but we have enough of those we need a lock down defender and a good distributor and that is exactly what ramone is.

As for josh brown, I'm curious whether he is a point guard or shooting guard. can someone fill me in on that. I think he's a combo guard but i'm not sure. I'm asking b/c i'm wondering who he will compete with for playing time. Raymone or daigle.

Brown is a shooting guard. Good slasher and scorer, with an improving outside shot. Could bring the ball up the floor if needed, but I'd expect to see Raymone at point and Daigle as a combo guy capable of giving Andrews a break now and then.

He is more of a shooter/slasher and scorer he would be a complement to Andrews and Andrews would create opportunities for Brown. In my opinion I see hin
and Daigle playing the same 2 guard slot.

He'll probably end up at UTEP. Freakin' Tim Floyd. Hopefully, he decides to stay and play closer to home. Has he ever been to El Paso? Geez.
