Softball Stadium Update

_ My Communications 357 class produces a weekly radio show from KRVS called Louisiana Focus. I'm planning on doing a story on why the softball stadium is taking so long to complete. Scott Farmer is obviously one of the first people I would want to talk to, but do you guys have any idea who else I should try to interview? Thanks in advance. _

Maybe this should be a separate thread but I was wondering after renewing Errol Rodgers contract and the handling of the softball stadium construction I am having second thoughts on whether or not we should consider making Farmer our permanent AD?????

This is not a good start to his tenure. I give Walker credit for Marlin and Hudspeth so Farmer's first real impact is Rodgers and The Softball Stadium completion in my mind.

What are your thoughts?

Bill Crist, he is head of the Physical Plant, an Architect and is in on ALL construction at UL. He is the man on campus for all repairs, etc with the well being UL buildings.

I'd say it's a bit of a reach. While decision to keep Rogers on another year falls on Scott Farmer, in no way does he take any blame with the softball stadium construction. Its a state contract inwhich he has very little authority. If you need any background information concerning state contracts on campus construction, contact T-Boy Hebert whom sits on the board that approves such contracts. Another matter some consider is that Scott has not been officially named AD, so he cannot hire his replacement. He is working short staffed, although I understand Jessica was given the title of Asst. AD/Compliance.

And while you give Walker credit for making the hires on Marlin and Hudspeth because he was the AD, it was Scott Farmer that handled both searches and identified each as "The Candidates" for hire. So Scott is 100% so far in head coach decisions in my book. Rogers is a present employee, not a new hire.

CajunT is right, David Walker didn't hire Farmer until two weeks after he was actually named perm AD.

Walker did make the full hire of Rogers as HC while Walker was only the interim AD.

Not to mention the fact that finances have a lot to do with his decision to retain Rogers. Sometimes you have to eat a meatless meal when you cannot afford meat.

Does anyone really expect Farmer to say Yea, we can't afford to get the coach we need and want so we will limp along another year?

_ Will this Stadium be finished before the regionals? This is ridiculous. I can very well see UL losing a regional because of this.

And before someone says,"then we'll just have to go to Baton Rouge and win". We (LSU) will not be in a position to host (actually I'm not sure we even make a regional). _

They only had 2-3 men cleaning bricks that was layed a week ago. No brick layers on site. There was 3 men scraping the cement around the concessions stands. WORK HAS STOPPED. Why want the news media ask guestions?

Your right there is a problem.

Scott is also right in that we can host a regional as is. I've been a student of this for a couple of decades. I've read the NCAA 2011 document listing requirments for hosting a regional......and keep in mind that Scott is not only our AD but the chairman of the softball selection committee!!!!!

If he says we can host as is you can bet on it. Is it exactly what we want? No. Is it better than 95% of the facilities out there? yes. Does it mean NCAA requirements? YES.

We have the best shot in a long time of being an NCAA host site.
