"I admit when I am wrong you are right Coach Lee is not an idiot but I am very concerned about him being the next head coach. He is simply not ready."

I don't think anyone can promise that the candidates as known, can bring this program to the next level.I'm not knocking Rickey, but I include him in that category as well.

I might be hitting a hyper sensitive issue, I really think that people want ricky broussard as coach is because he is white, and has ties to Louisiana, why are yall so afraid of a coach being black. Are you really telling me that the Assistant coach from Oklahoma St. or Mississippi State would not be a good fit, and Ricky Broussard would be a better choice. These coaches have been to the final four, these are people that have been successful. Do yall really think that Ricky Broussard would be the best choice because people are willing to support a white coach that has ties to the University. I support what is best for the University, not fan support or who people want to see as coach. These 4 candidates are the best people for the job not Ricky Broussard. Why wouldnt coach Lee get the same support as Ricky Broussard at least coach Lee has been here 8 years and showed dedication to UL.

ULTUBATOM,I think I've made my view clear. If it's down to the four known candidates, then my choice is coach LEE. Why, because I liked what he told me about changes that he would make, being loyal to this program for eigth years ,and what current and former athletes have told me about him.

But since you have brought up the sensitive issue(race) and question some about these four candidates being minorities. Is it any more reasonable to exclude any candidate from the process because they are not minority? It's clear to many that these are not the only viable candidates available with ties to this state. Why not interview them, unless you have decided already that the new coach will be a minority? Don't get caught up with coaches from large schools. There were many coaching openings this year and none of these guys were mentioned publicly for those positions.

Now,I'm not stating that the administration has not interviewed any of these candidates yet, I do not know that for certain. Bottom line, people are emotional right now about the candidates that they believe will help this program. But no person on this board can be certain that any of these candidates can take this program to the next level.

No, I don't think it is a white black thing. I do believe it is about Ricky who happens to be white vs 4 assistants who happen to be African Americans. I have often said it is absurd to do this type thing by what appears to be a statistical correlation. If the best assistant applying happened to be black Nelso would give him a serious look.

We have a huge opportunity at this moment to raise the bar for our basketball program. We all have opinions on some of the applicants, but none of us are sitting face to face with these guys and getting the answers. We have to trust that our athletic administration will make a good decision and select the applicant that is the "best fit". Personally, I hope the Hornets lose their next game, Tim Floyd becomes available, and we are somehow able to bring him on. It is possible. I also like Ricky. Why you ask?, because he has "passion" and will give his left n - - for UL. He knows the X's & O's and the recruiting base. One area that has not come up much is that his brother "Danny" is one of the best H.S. basketball coaches in Louisiana. He knows the "poop" on all of the high school players. How easy would that be when recruiting....He really just seems to be a "good fit". But hey, I'll still take Tim Floyd.......

I just hope the hiring is not as "political" as it was when Baldwin was hired. In case some of you didn't know, that was a Cleo Fields/Blanco manuver. One was because Baldwing is black, and the other was to garner support for the future, as you can see what happened in last years govenors race. (It's not always the most qualified, or the best person that wins. I think we ALL know that Jindal was the BEST candidate to lead this state!!!!) Anyway, I hope the hiring is not based on a "racial" type of situation, and someone is hired BECAUSE we needed to hire one for the perception of the university!

Thank you reality cajun. You just tied barry bonds for the home run record with one swing of the bat. Sometimes perception is reality, and the perception is there is not a good enough majority candidate to fill this position. What message are they sending the commmunity. Should we just sit there and take it. If it was the other way around there would be a protest rally on Monday morning at Martin Hall.
P.S. Maybe they are already working on the re-election campaign!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks CajunChicken I keep that in mind!?!? lol.
I have jury on Tuesday so I bet I will be practicing my Tuba, and studing for finals. I do not like Ricky Broussard as a coach I really think he will bring this program down rather then up.

NOT A CHANCE BRO!! Blanco (she,..."coach" too) has laid way too may eggs in such a short time! (example: see "elected officials want salary increase"!!) Now she is crawfishing on that one too. Oooh what trouble our state is in with this clown of a govenor that we are stuck with for the next few years. Heck, EWE running the show from prison would be better than this thing we currently have. (I am being sarcastic,......somewhat anyway)!! This coaching search is becoming a "charade". What happened to this so-called national search? What happened to these so-called 20-25 "high profile" applicants that supposedly applied? I'll tell you what happened, that was a farce!! That's what it was! This is a joke. It's time Authemont and Blance hit the road. ESPECIALLY BLANCO. He needs to be the puppetier for his wife on his own time, not ours! Mark my words, watch where this state is by the end of her term. We will be worse off than ever before!! I say this because the coaching search is errily running parrallel with the govenors race 2003!!!!!!

Cajunchicken, Your whining on behalf of Mr. Broussard is getting very annoying, and is NOT doing him any favors. I'm sure Broussard is a fine man. I remember when he was coaching at U(S)L. A lot has happened since then. If he turns out to be the best candidate, then I'll support him. If it turns out that someone else is the best one, I'll support that man. In the meantime, as my mama used to say, "if you can't say anything nice, ..."

    Geaux Ragin' Cajuns !!!!!!
