At 4pm on Thursday April 22 2004 Louisiana's Athletic Director Nelson Schexnayder called a press conference to confirm the departure of UL basketball coach Jessie Evans. In so doing he thanked him for his service and announced Louisiana assistant Robert Lee as the interim coach with all the responsibilities of a head coach.
