On UT-Austin that type of reference is basically non-existent. Yes they will spell out the whole thing early, but often you will only see TEXAS referenced after that.

For every "official" UT-Austin reference you show me, I can easily show you 10 full spellings on official of University of Texas Austin sites. I can also show you 10 to 1 where UT or Texas is alone without the Austin as opposed to UT with the Austin.

While they may not use the city initial, you will only find UT-Austin on UT-System pages. Other than that it is a fluke to see UT-Austin pages. I'm not saying that if you search UT-Austin on a search engine you won't find anything, I’m saying the vast majority are not official University of Texas at Austin web sites. Even after you visit the official sites that might turn up in a search, look on the page you will have trouble finding any UT-Austin reference. You know why, because except as a logo UT is a non-identifier

On the logo thing I'm not saying you are wrong, just I have not seen the University of Texas at Austin putting Austin under the "UT" logo, certainly with no regularity. If they rarely do, it is not an important element in their visual identity.

This has been an on-going controversy. I know the university has to use the Lafayette add-on designation for their legalites but I also started calling it just UL. It has been somewhat awkward saying just the two letters (forget the Lafayette) sometimes compared to saying USL for so long. I know some of you out there like saying just Louisiana. I thought about that & maybe starting liking that too. Being that Texas (UTA) & Arkansas(UAF) go by just their state name, we can become the same in this state, city & university especially for sports. I know the people from the east & the ones in Monroe wouldn't like it but so what, we are the original University of Louisiana from this century & the last. Sooooo.......

    GEAUX LOUISIANA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    GEAUX LOUISIANA CAJUNS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    & 3rd choice GEAUX UL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In the music department they had flyers that said UT-Austin and it had the T unside the U and austin at the bottom. It was promoting the Texas school of music it took me a little time to realize it was University of Texas lol. I really think that we should leave it the way it is, for reference. Still try to promote Louisiana and Louisiana to the University.

The State does not like us using Louisiana and UL as reference. There is a state law that says that you have to use the city tag on any University business. Thats why we cannot just put Louisiana on anything. I say lets break the BS law and start using what we want. What they will do Sue us or Cut or funding for not using the city tag.
