MOBILE, Ala. — Louisiana’s men’s tennis squad is one match away from claiming a Sun Belt Conference championship, but the Ragin’ Cajuns have their work cut out for them today.

The Cajuns got revenge for an earlier-season loss Saturday, posting a 4-2 victory over Middle Tennessee in the semifinals of the Sun Belt Tournament hosted by South Alabama, but now will face the top-seeded Jaguars in today’s 2 p.m. title match at USA’s Lubel Courts.

“Our goal was to make it to the conference finals,” said Cajun coach Justin McGrath. “Now, we must stay focused for one more match. But our guys are playing their best tennis of the year.”

The second-seeded Cajuns (12-9) had dropped a 4-3 dual match to MTSU back on April 2 in Murfreesboro, Tenn., and trailed in Saturday’s semifinal after the No. 3 Blue Raiders (9-14) took the doubles point.

All-Sun Belt pick Evghenii Corduneanu lost only three games in disposing of MTSU’s Kirk Jackson 6-2, 6-1 in the No. 1 match to give the Cajuns early singles momentum.
