CajunChicken,I can understand your support of Rickey, heck I like the guy too. I don't think Rickey has all of the support of alumnus. Every person I have talked to has stated that they would like Rickey to at least be interviewed for the position. But most of them support coach Lee also,so when you say people are willing to step forward with money if Rickey is named, I know people that are willing to do the same if coach Lee is named head coach. I don't see were Rickey is more qualified then the rest of the known candidates. Yes, he has been a head coach, but he did not recruit well or win alot. While coach Kennedy has done more with a similar budget at SE louisiana. If anyone should get consideration, then it's Kennedy. I don't care about qualifying someone just because they are local. It's all about results. I will support whomever is named as head coach. It's vital to this program right now,we continue to win.

As Usual, You are right on the money Guru. College athletics is big business. You have to treat it as such. Friendship is great, but I have many friends that I could not in good concious hire for the company that I work for. A good manager has to separate his heart from his head when making hiring decisions. Results and qualifications must count for something.

    Guru -
Billy Kennedy? Has he ever won the Southland. NO!!!! When he wins it twice like Ricky did ,I will consider him a viable candidate.

At a very minimum we owe Ricky Broussard the courtesy of an interview. If Ricky is not even given the chance to interview I have no choice other than to believe that something "ugly" and "political" is going on behind the scenes....

Russ do a websearch on Ricky Broussard, but basically he was the HC at Nicholls State and had 2 NCAA appearances there, recently he was an assistant at LSU with John Brady. He is also a UL Alum.

Any word on when a decision is going to be made on the Coaching position? I hope we have someone in place by the end of the month so that we don't go into summer without a coach.

  9. Default Pierre to Remain at LSU, Withdraws from Job Search

BATON ROUGE -- LSU Associate Head Basketball Coach Butch Pierre said Monday that he has withdrawn his name from the search for a head basketball coach at Louisiana-Lafayette and intends to remain in his current position with the Tigers.

"The University of Louisiana Lafayette is a nice place," Pierre said. "My wife (Clemmie) and I enjoyed our interview. We have decided it is best to stay at LSU. I think that we have something happening here very special the next couple of years. I believe we can make it to a Final Four and compete for a national championship and I want to be a part of that."

Yea, first you got to go to the NCAA then you can think about a national championships..gotta give him credit he does the Louisiana two step as good as the governor. His next job might as well be to take over the old congressional district of Cleo Fields.

Well the search is over, many of you will be disapointed, but the decision has been made. The new UL basketball coach is Glynn Cyprien

I just have one thing I want to clear up. The quote below is from here

Cyprien left during an NCAA violations investigation against UNLV but was adamant that his departure was not related to the supposed infractions saying at one time "I'm not even mentioned in the NCAA report, so there's nothing to run from.
While I brought this up a week ago, I obviously didn't feel the need to follow up and dig deeper. So I guess I shouldn't feel the need now. Geaux coach Cyp

It sounds to me like old LsuBR a&m put the screws to Butchy boy to get their hands on his baggage in tow.
