My point was that all the candidates mentioned are minorities, Fact! If these are the only candidates, then we have a very good candidate here that happens to be a minority,Period! You think I could talk to coach Lee if had a problem with him being a minority?

If you don't know me, don't freakin imply that there was some hidden bias in that comment.

If Ricky Broussard doesn't get an interview it will be a slap in the face to every SLI, USL and UL graduate. I am one and I will be appalled if he doesn't get one.

What does Nelson or Ray have against Coach Broussard.

Of the four candidates mentioned he is the ONLY UL graduate. He is the only one who has head coaching experience. He is the only one who has taken his team to two NCAA appearances as a head coach, and he has won everywhere he has been. Also he leads the vote on who you would like to see as head coach. Something is rotten in the state of Denmark I mean UL athletics. Can someone intelligent and neutral give me some insight.

Guru you made a lot of sense but I want somebody to explain to me what Robert Lee has over Ricky Broussard if you compare those two straight up.

There is no comparison don't you see the powers to be Anthony Daniels wants a minority and he is going to get it. I don't know what that guy has on Dr. Authement or Nelson but he has some stroke and he is using it. Ricky is the last guy Anthony Daniels wants to interview,he knows his popularity! Why do you think they won't even interview Ricky because they are scared of the locals rallying around him. I know what's going on take that to the bank. Isn't it a shame this is what's going on behind the scenes!

CajunChicken, that's one you are going to have to ask Nelson and Doc. I'm not even going to try and rationalize the process that they have settled on.

Dont speak about what you don't know. I am certain that Butch, Robert Kirby and Cyprien have established lists of JC/HS kids that would be available if they got the job. They have all interviewed for head coaching jobs before, and have done scheduling - give me a break...The key is that all 3 of those candidates have signed and coached NBA players as recruits and have been on staffs that have actually won games in the NCAA tournament. It is great to like Coach Lee and support him, but let's keep it real.

Vatican, you obviously have a reading comprehension problem. I'm still reading my original post to find out were I stated that any of the other candidates do not have an established list of recruits. I'm strictly speaking about what coach Lee has done to this point.

"They have all interviewed for head coaching jobs before, and have done scheduling - give me a break...

Really? Name them? And I'm giving you an opportunity not to look foolish. My source is inside the administration, and Pierre and Cyprien have not been interviewed for any head coaching positions.

Perhaps it is you that needs to speak about what you know and not what you think you know. Keeping it real is backing up what you have said you are sure. I will be waiting for the list of head coaching interviews that Pierre and Cyprien have done. I think I will be waiting a long time.Just keeping it Real!

This quote is from Coach Broussard's bio on the LSU website.

"He left Nicholls State with an overall record of 150-183 while putting together a 113-89 record in Southland Conference play."

I do not know Coach Broussard, but I do know that if the administration was considering any other coach in the country that had his record as a head coach, there would be a lynch mob forming for Nelson. No one knows if he even applied for the jobs. This discussion reminds me of when Coach Bustle was hired and everyone wanted Louis Cook to be hired. As it turned out, coach Cook did not even seek the job.

    Crawfish
Let me educate you my man. The record means nothing. He had to play LSU , Auburn, Virginia, etc. to make money, and if you don't know Nicholls is not going to beat any of those schools if Bobby Knight is coaching them. Rickey Broussard is the only Coach in the History of Nicholls State to bring them to the N.C.A.A. tourney, TWICE, that's right twice. Guess what Crawfish, it will never happen again! Not as long as they have that facility. If he can win two at Nicholls he can win 4 at UL more that Jessie or Marty.

He will be more successful than both of them and I will be telling everybody I told you so. So throw away the record Crawfish. It means nothing.Secondly he wants the job, why do you think he left Nicholls to become an Asst. at LSU to better prepare his resume for UL his dream job. If you people only knew. He can Coach circles around Lee. He forgot more basketball than Lee knows. Opelousas High WoW!! I'm impressed.

I have nothing against this guy, but I stand by my statements. If any other coach applied with this record, he would not get any consideration from most Cajun fans. Working at LSU Baton Rouge then resigning under duress also has done nothing to improve his resume. I understand that he has many friends but friends do not win games. I hope we hire the best candidate for the job, regardless of whether he is a brother in law or buddy of some group of supporters. Nelson has done a great job recently in selecting coaches, I expect he will do just as well this time, whoever the person is that he selects. Whoever he hires, I will support wholeheartedly unless and until he proves he cannot do the job. (as I have in the past)

I respect your answer. Trust me when I tell you that Ricky can get the job done, and he would assemble a great staff.
