Thread: The 2004 Search for a Basketball Coach

  1. #11

Default Kirby is not the answer

Oh great...Butch Pierre and Kirby are two notorious guys for being "resourceful" when it comes to getting players. Another guy that the NCAA will be licking their chops to see as a head coach. They may as well rent a condo in town to make the reporting of violations easier...than using mail service. That top 10 class at Houston really paid off for Alvin Brooks job security didn't it.

The more I read about the candidates we are considering (and I guess being black is a criteria)
    - Cyprien from Oklahoma seems the safest.

He is young and has been successful at the highest levels, and is respected by Eddie Sutton as an excellent coach as well as recruiter.

The guy has signed 3 NBA players while at UNLY, (Tony Allen at Oklahoma State will be also.)coached in the league at 2 different schools Jacksonville University, and Western Kentucky, and is from New Orleans - -

you need to understand, just because a coach has been successful at some other place may not work here, again you have a proven product (if you will) a so call big name (they call it) is just that. but that is what some people do, they reach for something when in fact it's next to them. only my opinion, thanks.

the first line of your comment is all i needed to read, get the facts, and that is coach lee did everything he could and that included bringing the guys to class (sad state)and when he left they left, coach report this to jesse, he did nothing, and there are/were alot of other times things like that happened.

a coach or any other should not have to bring students to class like little children, and if your assistant come to you as a head coach you need to back them up.....i'll chance reading the rest of you comments but i fear it will be the same since you are not aware of the facts, i make comments only when i have facts to back it up, and i will leave it at that because, trust me i do, you don't know the half of it.

i've been here long enough to know you haven't! it is clear you do not understand what goes on in scheduling and recruiting, when you find out then get back to me, and it would do you good to not make comments about things you simply don't understand, paul johnson, HA! you go boy.

The Schedule that Coach Lee made is that fact or did I just imagine that I went to the La College of Pineville game! You need not comment about the schedule because you can't defend it!! Pure and simple it SUCKS! Please give me some rational and excuses behind the scheduling. I know nobody wants to play us in the cajundome because it's a horrible facility. No we are too good and they are scared to play us. We don't guarantee enough money. The food in Lafayette sucks so they won't come down here, its too cold in the winter. Which one is it, all of the above. Please respond to these facts on scheduling. I want to hear this.

Oldman you think you know everything but you don't. Ross Mouton who lives near me on General Gardner told me that Paul Johnson stayed at STM and recruited Brad Boyd, him and Adam James. Put that in your pipe and smoke it!

one tid bit.....when the coach get contracts for games or a game, he brings it to the head coach to sign off on it yea or ney, and there is a date that it has to be approve and confirmed, if not it's voided, teams make other plans......well contracts sat on jesse desk past the date, and when that happens you have to scramble to find games.

  10. Ragin' Cajuns

Glenn Cyprien, now an assistant at Oklahoma State under Eddie Sutton, has been linked with the head coaching vacancy at Louisiana-Lafayette (which fans of Dwight "Bo Pete" Lamar will remember as Southwest Louisiana).
