A shooting in Lafayette leaves one man dead.
It happened around 10 o'clock Thursday night on Webb street- just off Pinhook.
Deputies questioned a number of witnesses who were in the house at the time... but made no arrests.
Friday morning, Webb street residents are back to their daily routine after some of them, like Elliott Arceneaux, heard the sounds of gun fire Thursday night.
"I was just watching tv," Arceneaux said. "Then I heard three shots."
It was around 10 o'clock when deputies were called to his neighbor's house...
Lt. Craig Stansbury says that's when police found 29-year-old Randal Doucet dead... a gunshot to the torso.
"The homeowner shot doucet with a 14-inch shotgun," Stansbury said. "The shots were fatal."
Deputies say they talked to witnesses and the shooter himself but no arrest was made.
That's because they say Doucet unlawfully entered the house and threatened the homeowner with a pipe wrench.
"It was clear he was not wanted in the residence," Stansbury said. "Legally, that's unauthorized entry."
The night's events, leaving the quiet neighborhood shocked...
"Always was a quiet neighborhood," Arceneaux said. "(My neighbor) didn't do anything to cause any problems or nothing like that."
