Thread: Maurice Clarrett

    UL Football Maurice Clarrett

Guy's, I'd like to know your opinion on the Maurice Clarrett situation. I think it serves both college and professional football well to uphold the 3 years removed from high school rule. I also think that Mike Williams should be allowed back into USC and maybe even Maurice Clarrett after an investigation into his conduct (regarding the money). I do beleive that Mike Williams will return to USC, and I think Maurice Clarrett will be playing Division I-AA football somewhere this coming year.

I wish the NBA could police itself, phenoms have no business dumbing down NBA play.

As far as Maurice Clarrett I think he received bad advice and I would somehow like to see him readmitted to school, or a school.

I think either of these young men should be allowed back in school if that is what they want. The initial rulings to make them eligible paved the way for them to hire agents, etc. to prepare for the NFL draft. The subsequent events that now make them ineligible should be substantial enough for the NCAA to reinstate their status if that is what they so choose.

In the case of Clarrett, he has never really shown that he wants to be a "student'athlete". While Ohio St, or any other school might keep the door open, I doubt he will pursue anything other that D-1AA or less just to "play", then as soon as the season ends he will bolt. Based on his track record, I'd also bet you could check his attendance records after that time and find out he rarely went to class and did even less the work. Like I said, this guy does not want to be a student. Just my 2 cents.

  4. Default Heck no to both of them!

That is my opinion. They both knew the ramifications of "toying" with the NFL. This is a powerful and classy organization with a tremendous amount of clout and support. A rule is a rule (see the BCS vs. the AP for the 2003 NC!) and if they would somehow be allowed back into school, then it should be at a D-IAA or less. NOT a major school (back to USC, etc.) If this happens, there will be "punks" trying their luck every year around draft time and it will only get worse. There may be a day when the Supreme Court decides not to rule in favor of the NFL. Who knows!? Clarett is nothing but trouble. Mike Williams,.......followed Claretts lead relative to making himself eligible for the draft. Shame on him! Nobody to blame but himself and the worthless agent that BS'd him into declaring early! If only MLB and the NBA would have high morals (sort of,...anyway) like the NFL! MLB baseball as it is today is a joke and a waste of TV air space (in my opinion). (i.e. Barry Bonds taking a night off due to being tired after playing in 13 straight games!!!) What would he do if he worked 40 hrs a week or had a 7 & 7 job? He is a bum and a whinny cry baby just like the rest of them! Don't get me started on the NBA! Now there is a waste of a sport! Both of these sports are crying "foul" because they MIGHT get randomly drug tested!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Try working in the REAL world and see what happens. If you don't use illegal drugs, then what's the worry? You and all of us that read this board know darn good and well that if we showed up to work on any given day, we may get randomly drug tested. Now, try to avoid the test and or complain that it is not fair. WE WOULD GET TERMINATED IMMEDIATELY!!!!!!

No kid right out of high school should be allowed to get drafted or make themselves eligible for ANY type of professional sport BEFORE attending some sort of college for at least 3 (THREE!!!!!!) years. MLB has ruined MANY a young mans' carreer by drafting them right out of high school. How many actually make it? Yes there are some, but very few!! Sorry folks, but you touched a nerve with me about professional sports!

Well here is the key, and this is how I look at it. The NFL is a private organization, just like any business you can think of. If a business says they wont hire anyone under a certain age, they have every right to do so, and thats how I see it.
