MOBILE, Ala. — Louisiana’s men’s tennis team carries the No. 2 seeded position into play today in the Sun Belt Conference Tennis Championships at South Alabama.

Play begins at 8 a.m. in both men’s and women’s single-elimination competition at USA’s Lubel Courts and the Mobile Tennis Center.

The tournament features eight men’s squads and 11 women’s teams aiming for Sunday’s championship round.

The Cajun men (10-9), ranked 56th nationally, face seventh-seeded Denver at 10 a.m. at the Mobile Tennis Center in the opening round. A win would put the Cajuns into Saturday’s 8 a.m. semifinals against the winner of No. 3 seed Middle Tennessee and No. 6 seed New Mexico State.

The Cajun women (7-12) are 10th-seeded in the 11-team field and open play against seventh-seeded North Texas at 8 a.m. at the Mobile Tennis Center. A victory would put the Cajuns into a 3 p.m. quarterfinal against second-seeded Denver.
