The overturned tanker which was leaking a mixture of chemicals near I-49 still has the highway closed.
HazMat crews are siphoning the chemicals from the overturned tanker to another tanker called down from Northern Louisiana.
Police expect the interstate to remain closed into the early hours of Wednesday evening and will reopen I-49 as soon as the tanker is removed.

I-49 Northbound has been shut down from Pont de Mouton to Gloria Switch Road.
A truck carrying a mixture of flammable liquids flipped at around 11-AM Wednesday morning, leaking its cargo onto Frontage road.
State Police, Lafayette Sheriffs Depuites and Lafayette Police have I-49 blocked-off as Lafayette firefighters inspect and clean-up the spill.
Cpl. Paul Mouton of the Lafayette Police Department says they expect to have the interstate shut-down until a special hazardous materials vehicle can pump the liquid out of the overturned truck. Mouton says this could take hours to clean-up and doesn't expect the thruway to be open before 5:30.
We'll have more details as they arrive.
