LOUISIANA Là — If you’re looking for cushy curriculums, don’t drop by Louisiana’s softball program.
The Lady Cajuns, whose yearly challenge is to reach the Women’s College World Series, also challenge themselves in the classroom.
And their grades reflect how seriously they take that part of their college lives.
Sophomore second baseman Brittany Bryant is typical of that attitude.
“I was in chemical engineering,” Bryant said, “but now I’m in kinesiology. I want to go into exercise science. I think that relates more to my life.”
Bryant was a member of the National Honor Society and was named to Who’s Who Among American High School Students at Beaumont’s West Brook High, and she has hardly skipped a beat at UL.
“I have to work hard to get good grades,” she said. “I study a lot.
“I take more hours in the fall, and try to lighten it up in the spring. And, I usually take summer school. That helps during the spring and fall. The juniors and seniors on the team all have hard classes now, because they’re all in their major.”
Bryant’s abilities on the field and in the classroom make her hard to classify.
