This week students will be back in class, their families rushed around this weekend, filling supply lists and many were left "surprised" at what was on them.
When your son or daughter gets on the bus for the first day of school what will they be carrying in their book-bag? For the past few weeks parents have been picking up "the list" at the stores where they do back to school shopping: "The list" meaning items students will need for the year ahead-- but some of the things seem more like teacher supplies than student supplies. We asked the question, *why* are moms and dads having to foot the bill?
Exhibit A: JW Faulk Elementary requiring 4th graders to bring 4 reems of copy paper per student and how about kids bringing markers for the dry erase board.
J.W. James Assistant Principal Vachella Jones says they actually use the markers for drawing on the board and writing. She says the boards are activity centers.
Markers aside, one school was requiring kids to bring a 12 pack of toilet paper. That school was Lafayette Middle: the school board had to step in and make the principal remove the toilet paper from the list.
