LOUISIANA La. — The UL Wind Ensemble will perform its annual Spring Concert at 7:30 p.m. April 7 in Angelle Hall Auditorium.
Works will include “From a Dark Millennium” by the Pullitzer Prize-winning composer, Joseph Schwantner; “Overture to ‘Candide,’” by Leonard Bernstein; “Elegy” by John Barnes Chance; and “The Solitary Dancer” by Warren Benson.
Five faculty soloists will be featured in a performance of “Shadowcatcher,” written in concerto form for brass quintet and wind ensemble. Featuring the Louisiana Brass Quintet, the work by Eric Ewazan is based on Native American music and legends.
The concert will conclude with Timothy Mahr’s “Into the Air,” commemorating 100 years of manned flight. Admission is free. For information, call (337) 482-6012.
