A 22-year-old Ville Platte man is behind bars in Mamou for aggravated battery and three counts of kidnapping.
Terry C. Freeman has been on the run since June 20th when police say he went to his ex-girlfriends house and held her and her two toddlers at knife-point.
After the victim escaped, she reported Freeman to police. Freeman then fled to Texas until U.S. Marshals located him at his aunt's home in Houston.
Police say the arrest is an end to the search of a brutal attacker.
Mamou Detective Marie Potter said this case began in late June.
"It was middle-night." Potter said, "the victim had a knock at the door."
The report continues to say the victim's ex-boyfriend, Freeman was at the door asking for a glass of water. Minutes later, the victim and her two toddlers were being threatened with a knife.

"He pulled out a pocket-knife and put it to her throat and threatened to kill her," Potter said.
Police say Freeman then took the victim and the toddlers to a stolen truck he hid in a nearby field. The next morning, the victims father noticed there was a struggle in the house. The water was still running and there was a knife on the floor.
"He immediately thought something was wrong," Potter said, "and it had to do with the ex-boyfriend, Terry."
The victim (whose name is not being released) was later found at her ex-boyfriend's house in Ville Platte. When her father arrived, her throat, face, and body were scarred with knife cuts.
Freeman then fled to Texas. Police didn't know where in Texas until U.S. Marshals located him earlier this week.
"I was concerned for (the victim's) life and her childrens' life." Potter said, "If he can come in her house at the middle of the night, who's to say he's not going to do it again?"
Potter could face at least 10-years behind bars if convicted. Bond has been set at $150,000.
