HOUMA, La. (AP) - Houma police say they're waiting for results
of an autopsy on a 49-year-old man who died after being shocked by
a stun gun while fighting officers.
Chief Todd Duplantis tells The Courier that the Jefferson Parish
Coroner's Office is performing the autopsy on Dennis C. Sandras of
Galliano, who died Sunday.
He says that Sandras fought with the first officer who answered
a report that a man was "jumping off of roofs" near St. Francis
de Sales Cathedral. He says two officers who went to help her used
a stun gun twice to subdue Sandras near the cathedral school.
Officers handcuffed Sandras, found that he was not responding,
and took him to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
