A disTurbinece in the middle part of the Atlantic has a pretty good chance for development over the next few days, but most models keep it over the open waters of the Atlantic through the weekend. DisTurbinece 91L is showing somewhat of a low level circulation on satellite imagery this morning. With a tropical wave several hundred miles away from any land, reconnaissance aircraft can't investigate, so viewing the satellite is the first line of defense. The National Hurricane Center puts a 90% chance that this will become our next tropical depression within the next 48 hours.
Meanwhile, closer to home, the Heat Advisory will continue today as scorching sunshine will kick temps back to the upper 90s to near 100. Officially, Lafayette reached 101 Sunday with the heat index flirting with 110. Overnight lows here in the Hub City only dropped to 82 this morning setting a new record for the warmest low temperature for the day. 82 degrees also ties the all time warmest low temperature here in Acadiana.
