A heat advisory is in effect for Acadiana this weekend, but even with temperatures pushing triple digits that couldn't keep the Lafayette High School Mighty Lions Marching Band from practice.
"It's nice, it wouldn't be band camp without the heat," said drum major Alexander Agent.
During the two hour practice Friday afternoon, the 300 students got two 10-minute breaks to hydrate, courtesy of the band moms.
"I'm one of the nurses and in this kind of weather the kids can really get dehydrated fast, so we just try to hydrate them, keep their morale up and keep them going," said mom Cara Ressler.
