I didn't pick today's articles, it's just what I found in the news today.

No problem, but I believe Prof. Lutz in the crawfish article works for LSU AgCenter.

I hate to say it, but why hasn't Melancon been more involved in pushing to get rid of the moratorium? Looks like he's fooling around with some kind of insurance deal.

Because he is a liberal that rubber stamps everything Obama does. Vitter will destroy him in November.

The Moratorium is not the problem, the permit issuers are under a microscope with an army of attorneys that are investigating them. It's like the inquisition over there right now from what I understand, you issue a permit and are beheaded if you went to a crawfish boil for that customer. Also there is the never ending "we need more data", however; what kind and how much cannot be specified at this time.

The Moratorium is a HUGE problem!!!! For those that can't see that now, I can only pray that gas prices rapidly climb to $6.00 or $7.00 per gallon!!! The government is throwing out the baby with the bath water with this Moratorium! The BP disaster had nothing to do with lack of regulations. The problem appears to be that BP and/or some individuals did not insure compliance with existing regulations. The Moratorium basically accuses every company operating offshore and their management of willingly refusing to comply with the regulations. That is simply not the truth.

The November 2010 and 2012 elections can't come soon enough!!!

Liberals have no governance or executive abilities. They are fantastic observers and cause crusaders. They have mistakedly been afforded the pilot's seat and just because they have always been the loudest passengers complaining about the flight, have rarely been allowed to actually fly the plane. In the past, when assigned to do so, they relinquished the direct action to a conservative, and simply managed the public relations of the flight. They never actually do the heavy lifting. They write a book on how conservatives lift too fast or too unfairly. Liberals' service is severely required in a society founded and managed by conservative capitalists... don't get me wrong. That service does not include touching the controls... however... ever.

Liberals are great contributors of thought-provoking banter... but again... should never... ever be allowed to write the manual or operate the controls. They make a lot of us who know how to fly the plane... often fly it around the light turbulence... give out a pack of peanuts... give extension belts to overweight people... not upset anyone with a hint of racial profiling on boarding pass and baggage checks... make pillows and blankets available to all... make sure flight attendents are ugly... and stuff like that. But they do not decide the source and destination and are never the pilots.

How could anyone honestly look at this moratorium and not identify the political maneuvering at it's core? Do we shut down the entire airline industry when a plane goes down? Do we shut down all schools for 6 months when a nutjob goes on a shooting rampage at a school? Did we shut down all shipping following the ExxonMobil Valdez incident? I could give a hundred examples of parallel high consequence incidents that never warranted a "ban"... either.

And... for all that are enjoying the unlimited power being wielded by our current administration... if you have a morsel of intelligence to go along with your quick trigger opinion... the constructs that you build for your own causes also become available to your successors. Payback is going to be holy hell. Lack of respect paid conservatives... in the name of bashing "W"... is not forgotten on many of us. This twisted regime is making many people with far more mental faculties than the sitting liberals could ever collectively muster come out of simply towing the line for this nation. As far as I'm concerned... I didn't know we were in a real battle with each other. I thought liberals pretty much just wanted something for nothing, keeping political status through finger-pointing blame and complain... but wouldn't actually attempt to impose your ill-conceived nonsense into action. I thought even liberals were smart enough just to talk about how smart they are... but never try to actually "fly the plane". I was wrong... brace for a "rough landing".

I asked that this not be turned into a political thread.

I am disappointed that you did not honor that request.
