Cannons Sign Poole 2/8/2002
The Canberra Cannons have secured a second import to play alongside 2001/2 MVP David Thomas.

206cm, 105kg Reggie Poole has agreed to terms with the Cannons after dominating leagues in South America. Poole who graduated from South Western Louisiana University in 2000 has spent the past two years amongst the statistical leaders in the tough Chilean and Argentinian competitions.

“He’s a 25yo version of George Banks” said coach Cal Bruton. Banks led the Cannons in scoring and blocked shots last season before suc~~~bing to a chronic knee problem.

Cannons guard David Patrick spent three seasons playing with Poole at SW Louisiana. “He’s very athletic. Reggie was the all time leading shot blocker at school. Impressive enough, but he was also the second all time leading shot blocker in the state of Louisiana, in front of Karl Malone.”

“He’s a laid back, country boy, easy going. All he wants to do is win” said Patrick.

Poole joins the Cannons after leading Universidad de Concepcion to the Chilean title where he combined a 19.8 point average with 15.4 rebounds per game.

An inside and outside scorer he averaged a very impressive 42% from beyond the three point arc, numbers that delight coach Bruton “I see him as a guy we can go to when we really need someone to score.”
