Before he's released from prison, former Governor Edwin Edwards could be making an "appearance" in Crowley. Months after a monument featuring his face was literally defaced, an effort is underway to replace it.

"I haven't seen anything done to it, so I took the bull by the horns and we're taking donations to restore it, and it's called the Governor Edwin Edwards Restoration Project," said Crowley-native John Gott.

The citizen-led project is accepting donations from the public to help the cause, anyone wishing to donate should contact Home Bank of Crowley.

The "bas-relief" of Edwards has already been ordered and should arrive within 6 to 8 weeks.
