I will admit it, I'm a bit of a beer snob. I used to not be this way, but then I went to Europe and my beer tastes changed almost overnight. There are several good domestics, they just aren't made by Miller, Bud, or Coors.

then you will want to go to the taproom in river ranch. they have alot of beers on tap as well as in the bottle, good atmosphere. they have tvs so you can catch some saturday games. Also, the corner bar, has good beer selection, clean and has a great hot dog. its kind of a cajun hotdog made on french bread. Legends on bertrand is great after games, it may not be as fun for you but if we win, you will definately want to check out legends on bertrand.
For Saturday breakfast I'd suggest Dwyers or The French Press. Lunch at either is good also. And REALLY try to catch Festival Acadien Saturday or Sunday....good food there too.
I would recommend The Corner Bar on the corner of Johnston St. and Doucet Rd. Good draft list, including some great local beer (NOLA, Abita, Lazy Magnolia).
In my opinion, The Tap Room is a bunch of empty taps. Terrible use of selection and snobby owners. There still isn't a GREAT beer bar in Lafayette. But once they finish Walk-Ons, that will change. 50 unique taps including about 15 outside on the patio area.
So what is this festival? The web site for it pretty much sucks and doesn't make it look/sound like something worth attending.
Let's see.....it's free, there's plenty of Cajun/Creole music, there's more food than you could possibly sample, there's dancing everywhere and..... it's free
Actually it's a festival held every fall to celebrate our music and way of life.
If you are open to something different you will not be disappionted.

It looks like the official website has some construction stll to complete, but try this site from the city of Lafayette. I even has some packages referenced for the football game. You can check back a little closer to the game time to the official site, and they'll have the roster of bands with schedule, as well as much more info on the food & vendors available.

This is one of the great things about our school and this board. A fan from an opposing team can come to our site and ask a question and be greeted with 4 pages of constructive answers and not a single negative comment. At other school sites a simple question would get 4 pages of how ____ty the opposing scool and personal attacks of the person his hometown and family. This shows the class of the Cajun fans very friendly willing to go out of the way to help someone in need and always class act.
I can assure you that there may be some friendly ribbing at the tailgates but none of the bs that you would encounter at other Louisiana schools.
Come have a good time, enjoy all that the town has to offer you will be well received and made to feel like you knew all your whold life and will get to see a great football game on what will hopefully be a comfortable fall evening.
The funny thing is that they yell "TIGER BAIT" at every visiting fan and when the fan comes back with something, they are seem stupefied and just look at you with a dum@ss look on their face. They end up conjuring up a comeback about 10 seconds later, but you are too busy hearing the next jack@ss yelling "TIGER BAIT" that you can't hear them.
