I have a gut feeling "Toothpick" isn't going to be the poster child for this educational experiment. Ironically, and sadly, his students, even with DVD instruction, will probably test out much better than most public schools in Louisiana.

As you follow all of this... please keep in mind who really caused this "experiment" to be tried. If you need to hate someone today... hate them.

Well, now he is getting paid to put butts in the seats and he knows it.

    Let the scams begin.

There are scammers in everything. If Toothpick is as much of a scammer as our public school officials have been, we the taxpayers are hopefully going to put the pinch on him much quicker than we did the public school officials.

$8500 per year per student which is $32 below the max reimbursement limit set by the state for Lincoln Parish.

This appears to have the makings of a very profitable venture - for a few years - then the parents, students, state may start to figure out that the quality of education is not what they envisioned.

I really thought some rats would be squeaking a lot more on this thread. A snake is on the loose! I figured the rats would be throwing 18 kinds of fits about the snake on the loose. He's "snaking" into your cheese den. I assume they're massing up somewhere getting ready to launch a fabricated campaign... like, "snakes don't like women"... or "snakes are against contraception".

So if he already had around 150 students and is going to take in around 350 additional students for a total of 500 students at a new tuition rate of $8500 per year that adds up to a cool $4.25 million per year! And almost $3 million of that will come from the taxpayers of this state. And I'm sure the Rev is looking into any and all federal grants that might be available for his taking as well. Who says crime doesn't pay?!

How is a voucher directly to a school any different than what exists already? Doesn't it in some way dictate where a kid goes to school?

I thought a voucher let the parents decide, and if they saw "no teacher, no books, no building" it would be a pretty easy non-choice. . . seems to me.

    I guess I haven't been paying attention.

Something tells me this new tuition rate will somehow be "discounted" to last year's rate through "scholarships" and other loopholes.

Bingo! For all those complaining about this, we have had the alternative now for 40 years at a current cost of $12,000 per student. But hey, why don't we just keep dumping millions into a falling system and ignore the results? The initial idea of taking on the teachers unions was sound, after that it evolved into something that could be just as bad.

Sadly he is no more of a scammer then the current system.

Can you please give me the names of some of these "intellectuals" that you hate so much and can you explain to me exactly what these "intellectuals" did to destroy the public school system. I eagerly await your response.
