Houston Cajun,
I have never seen someone take lemonade and turn it into urine so often. You have not see these buildings yet you state that they are repossessed FEMA trailers. Would you prefer to not have any meeting rooms? No area to entertain recruits? The athletic department is doing things to improve as best as they can on the budget that they have but yet you are offended. Would you prefer that they did nothing? They maybe doublewides but the exterior has been obviously refurbished as there is no vinyl siding and it looks like they match exterior of the IPF. They look like metal buildings. A building is a building. Do you have any idea of the current value of a new doublewide mobile home? They currently range from 60k to 100k depending on model and options. You get much more bang for your buck than a stick built building. If this is what they could afford because of finances I applaud them for acting for the current athletes, using alternative methods to accomplish what they need, and not worrying about what people say about the means used to get this accomplished. I don't understand why are you constantly so worried what other people say about UL. We have to do what we have to do with what we have. Until enough people step up to the plate like the Fournet's, the university will have to sometime use methods that aren't always optimal.
Frankly I don't see how someone could look at these structures and think "double wide."
The patio covering spanning the area makes for a very nice look.

I didn't call them that, I was reporting what others called them and how it was being referred to. And, I didn't say the facility was bad, I said referring to it as a double-wide trailer facility should have been avoided. The embarassment I referred to was not of the facility itself but of the way in which it was depicted to the public. All of that could easily have been avoided by simply referring the our new recruiting complex instead of the negative connotation of double-wide trailers. Perception to fans does mean a lot and our program simply does not have the best perception for reasons others have already stated and this just adds to it.

Talked to Gerald Hebert today------All of this is temporary-----the new stadium will house all of this------A much needed temporary solution to a needed problem------Also a really cool place for the guys to hang and recruits to eat before games!!!!!!-----We have now a real president committed to the cause!!!!
The "temporary" status of these buildings should have been part of the news release along with proposed renderings of the stadium expansion.
I think you are right... this is a PR "miss". Even if we still do not want to go full public with the proposed expansion plan, we could at least mention that these are interum buildings until the stadium expansion gets completed.
I do feel like we are hitting the PR blunder a little hard and taking focus away from the Fournet's generosity. I wish there was a way to manage our "recommendations" on improved PR imaging and not repeatedly block the sunshine from the positive contributions.
Who cares what this temporary meeting space will be perceived as? We are cajuns...aren't we? What's done is done and let's roll with it. Big thanks to the Fournet family!
