Nice shots, CC! Thanks! It does seem to be taking an inordinate amout of time to complete this project. Not only are the track & field teams waiting, but also the soccer team. Hope they can complete this as soon as possible (but still do it right)!

    Track & Field

It is my understanding that they want to get the infield seeded(don't know what type of grass) and grass growing to prevent getting dirt on the track surface once it is laid. Well, the season for getting grass started from seed is about at its end. Perhaps I am being pessimistic, but I don't see this project being finished until next year, if they are waiting for grass to grow. It also looks to me like their is a lot left to be done that involves the infield, before they are able to seed the infield.

    Default FIU Game Promotion

Good idea, hope it works for them.

The Golden Panthers go into a bye week before returning to FIU Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 25 to take on Western Kentucky. Following that game, there will be a free concert featuring Method Man, Redman and the All-American Rejects, plus the first 3,000 in attendance will receive a free reversible FIU bucket hat compliments of Papa John's Pizza.

For tickets and information, call toll free at 866-FIU-GAME or order on-line at www.FIUsports.com.

    Track & Field Slowly but....photos

Another early Sept photo. I am not certain what these trenches are for. Perhaps drainage.

Track & Field The last of photos

The running track will be the last thing they complete. If you just look at it, things seem to be progressing oh so slowly!

Charlie, thanks for the photos! When were the last ones taken? We'd (us out-of-towners) appreciate it if you could keep a running series of photos to keep us posted on the progress. Great job!

    Track & Field

RF, thanks for the kudo. The photo project is to keep you all updated on an athletic improvement project that is not getting too much publicity, but that will add a lot to our athletic program. I do intend to take pictures on a monthly basis until the project is completed, and to post them for all of you who have an interest.

You can go back to my earlier posts and subsequent ones for photos that will give you an idea of the progress that has been made.

    Track & Field

RF, the photos were taken in Sept. The one with the open trenches was taken in the early part of the month, and the others were taken in the latter part of the month. I do plan to take some for Oct on my next trip into Lafayette, and will post them.

    Great pics Charlie.

It looks like the trenches were filled with the white stuff. Is that correct?

    Track & Field

Turbine, that is correct. I just don't know what it is. They were also spreading it all over the infield. I started to ask, and thought better of it for fear they may have put me to work. :>)))

Entrees for HC are B-B-Q chicken, 50# roasted pig, 10# boneless, stuffed beef roast. Can you handle it? Come check out our new banner.
