There is controversy in Ville Platte over the District B council seat. The incumbent, Carol Alfred, has been disqualified by a Judge's order. She's been on the council for 12 years, but when she went to sign up for re-election she had neglected to pay a 1000 dollar fine to the Ethics Boards-- and that's grounds for disqualification.
Even though she's out of the race, she's still challenging one of her opponent's qualifications. She has filed a petition in court that alleges Arthur Sampson has not lived in district B long enough to be in the race.
A third candidate would win by default if Sampson is disqualified: His name is Jerry Joseph.
Joseph nor Sampson were available for this report, Ms. Alfred has declined comment, referring us to her attorney.
Stay tuned for more on this race.
