Is something going on at the Cajun Dome on Wednesday?
I don't know all the details, but there is supposed to be an "economic survial" rally to protest the moritorium.
A think there will also be a second event of people in favor of the moratorium protesting the evil oil companies. But don't let that keep you away for fear of parking because I'm sure those anti-oil company protesters will be walking or arriving by mule. Since they hate oil you know they will not be burning any fossil fuels to travel there.

I was assuming it was a joke on his part. If not, the economic survival rally is supposed to attract 15,000-20,000 people to the cajundome and event center for a mass rally to support drilling and show those on a national level the impact it is/will have on the entire state's economy. Media outlets such as CNN and Fox are supposed to be there with live feeds during the event to try to attract as much attention as possible.
Some of the media will be sure to announce that not everyone supports lifting the ban. They will probably highlight the 5 people outside with that view and not focus on the thousands that will be in the Dome. Beyond lifting the moratorium in Deep Water, a focus should be on resolving the permitting process that is causing rigs to leave in the shallower waters. The latest government rules for these permits are so confusing that the agency in charge of enforcement is having trouble interpreting them.
I saw this years ago during the Marcos-Aquino election in the Phillippines. There were 15 US observers sent over to monitor the election process, all of which observed cheating. As they reported in, 7 of the 15 reported that the Aquino side (NAMFREL) cheated the most, 5 reported that they both cheated about the same, and 3 reported that the Marcos camp (COMELEC) cheated the most during the election.
All were interviewed by CNN, only 3 interviews were aired...guess which 3?
So who else is going to be there? I am planning on going.
