Thread: The Refs in the NC State game

  1. UL Basketball The Refs in the NC State game

We knew going in that UL was going to lose the free-throw battle, of this there was never any doubt. I mean the Wolf Pack rank #1 in the country in that category.

Except for the “crazier than cotton” fouls presented to Dwayne Mitchell by the suddenly slow refs early on, the refs were more than fair.

In fact if you consider the missed front ends of one-and-ones UL went to the line more than NC State. I'm not sure if it was their stifling aggressive defense that disrupted the shooting of the Ragin' Cajuns.

Even so, without Mitchell in the game we were doomed.

  2. NCAA The fact is we were lucky to win that game.

Boyd et al missed quite a few wide open shots. It happens, trust me, we've been there. We played, for the most part, very mediocre ball. This trend continued in the first half against Vandy, and they made us pay.

But the sad thing is we really put it together offensively in the second half....right up until Hodge fouled out. We just don't have the mind set to finish and it bit us big time on Sun. If we could have made it a free throw game at the end, it would have been different. Instead, we hand it to them on a platinum platter.

So keep your heads up Cajuns, we know we didn't get your best ball. If it makes you feel any better, I would rather lose because the ball wouldn't go in the hole rather than choking the game and an 11pt. lead away.

Maybe will meet again one day. Til then....

The refs really weren't too bad. I thought they missed a couple of blatant Wolfpack walks, but nothing major.

What is a “crazier than cotton” foul?

The refs werent bad?!?!?!?!? Did you see that player from NC State Hop, then take two large steps? That was the blown call of the century! Im not going to say they were horrible but it did look like they were afraid to make some calls.
