Thread: Robichaux to play for his dad at UL

  1. Default Re: Cajuns add another baseball commitment

I got word that there will be a walk-on coming to the Cajuns from North Vermilion High School---Name is Marc Frederick---too small to play but just keeps doing it---all-state and won the Parish track meet in his first year at 100 meters---He hit a homer off of the Robe kid this year---huge heart!!!! I wish him luck!!!

If he has the heart of the other Frederick now playing for the Cajuns , he'll get a fair shake @ UL. Tfred walked on also. With only 27 players on scholarship there's always room for a good walk on. I wish him luck.

The money is always nice and it comes and goes. More important is the opportunity a high draft pick brings. If you are 18 years old, 6-5, throw in the 90's and one of a team's first few picks, you are groomed for success at the highest levels, nurtured and cultivated.

Playing for your dad in college at a strong program is something completely different. Guys rarely get two chances at being a high pick, though. That would be a tough decision.

He's not a d1 player yet....he would be better off going the juco ranks to start. But he does run well...may be his strongest point.

I know the kid and have never seen him play---He had offers from the JCs and some colleges---Just wants to be a Ragin Cajun----I love that---I think that the speed thing is what got him the walk-on----But he keeps knocking the hell out of the ball---I think that his district being pretty good also gave him a chance!!!

The draft is such a tricky situation. Austin is smart for taking a wait-and-see approach so he doesn't back himself into a corner. It would have to be a special opportunity for him to turn down the Cajuns.

This should put to bed any of the Tony leaving talk. Makes me happy.

I played with Mark in high school. He has a solid glove, solid bat, and is very fast. Kid made some plays as a sophomore that i haven't seen anyone else make. He has a high baseball IQ and was our best pitcher the last three years. I have always said that I thought he could play college ball here. I'm very happy he decided to come here.
