Releasing a bat or a golf club or a tennis racket on the back-swing has a lot more to do with an over-kill attempt than anything else. I, like all of us, have seen bats wind up all over a field when they have slipped out of the hands of players and yes, some end up in dugouts. I don't recall any of those players in all the games in all the years being accused of doing it on purpose and there is a reason...one would never know if it was gonna hit the 3rd base coach, an on deck guy, the ball person, a fan in the stands.................
Any message wanted sent is a lot easier to send by hitting the ball. imo
