From what I've been told, Tulane made an unbelievable offer. LSU and Bama were talking "official visits" as was Southern Miss, New Mexico and others but he made his decision prior to all of that happening. Also heard that LSU and Bama couldn't touch the offers he got from UL and Tulane. Then Tulane lost the coach who was recruiting him to the Univ.of Houston and that likely left them out.

Don't shoot the messenger; just what I've heard from reliable sources.

Oh i believe u. mine was mostly speculation. And as for the not being able to make the grades comment, I just know for a fact that he doesnt have the best grades. I think it was b/c he really didnt try his freshman year and his GPA suffered.

According to LHS coaches, he's currently at a 2.6 - 2.8 GPA. Not sure about ACT though. I heard the same thing about his freshman year too. He's obviously turned it around.

Yea i'm sure once he saw his GPA at the end of freshmen year he realized he should start caring. Hopefully he does well on the ACT if he hasnt taken it yet.

Not a knock on Jace, but Tulane has offered a number of athletes that were not eligible at the time of the offers over the last few years. They offered an athlete with a 2.1 GPA a football scholarship last fall, only to later pull that offer for another athlete. I'm glad Jace committed, I had heard he was leaning LSU for a while. He is a good one!

Cajun-T---What is the story on these schools and their guidelines for entry and their giving a pass to athletes with GPAs and ACTs that don't meet the requirements???? ----When I did the checks at UL we had NCAA Championship, NCAA regular, State of Louisiana, and Conference requirements---a nightmare----But aren't schools given a certain percentage of under the wire students---Also -could you go into a little detail about the ULM admission standards????

Boomer, as you already know all programs use waivers to get athletes in. UL and Tulane are no different in that manner, but once they're in it comes down to the amount of resources the university spends on athletes on scholarship to keep them academically eligible.

I'm not sure on ULM, I was told they will not be exempt from APR any longer beginning with the 2011 Class. But I haven't found any public information suggesting that they are no longer exempt.

They were exempt from the APR like troy is? That just makes it even more sad that they arent even that competitive in the sunbelt. That's the main reason troy is as good as they are.

Any chance of Troy losing its exemption in the near future?

It seems silly to me that the conference should make sure that there exists a level playing field withing the conference. So, the Sunbelt should make sure that all schools in the league must have similar requirements.
