Still digging to find where Wes Luquette ended up. Former Florida guard/forward Ray Shipman signed with UCF to play safety.

I thought that it may have been possible he ended up here, but I think he is most likely a juco candidate after what happened in BR. Great athlete and ball player but seems like he needs a little more motivation than most.

Everyone I heard talk about Jace was saying he was wanting to go to Alabama so this is a pleasant surprise.

My guess the reason he didnt choose Alabama is he knew he couldn't make the grades to get in. just an educated guess though.

I doubt University of Alabama's academic standards are that high.

  9. UL Baseball Jace Conrad and Chaz Hebert commit to UL baseball

Lafayette High School shortstop Jace Conrad and Breaux Bridge pitcher Chaz Hebert both agreed that they wanted to stay close to home and play college baseball at UL.

They teamed up to turn a double play Saturday night, verbally committing to the Ragin' Cajuns over the phone while in Atlanta playing select travel team baseball for the Southeast Texas Sun Devils.

Conrad and Hebert, both of whom will be prep seniors next season, are UL's first public commitments for its 2011 recruiting class.

Where is the big smirk emoticon to go along with your statement? The SEC is one of the largest breeding grounds for athletes who cannot and will not ever read past the 2nd grade level. Oh believe me, they will have plenty of babysitters and so-called tutors, intervention specialists, councelors, buddy systems, and the like... but regardless of what the paperwork says... you need to personally have one of them read and write a sentence in front of you. I have. Case closed.

You're right, Just1More. The SEC's academic reputation was one of the reasons why Texas didn't want to join the league back during all of that conference realignment craziness.

We saw first hand during recruiting that the Gators have a platoon of academic advisors and tutors standing by to go hand-in-hand with each athlete as they matriculate. I got the impression the only thing the the advisors/tutors didn't do was walk across the stage at graduation with each player.
