We go to South Carolina in the Super Regional.. Playing the overall #1 seed. The bus pulls up to the side gate for practice and that strong leadership... Mazzie... Nate Nelson... Clark... etc. etc... said we are walking in the front gate... No fear on that team

Then we lose game 1.... We have Scotty Dohman who will later be drafted pretty high.. and Andy Gros a freshman.... Robe agonizes over the game two starter and finally decides on Gros.... He calls Dohman and Gros into his hotel room and asks Dohman... "how do you want me to coach this? We can always look back and say we made it to the Super Regional and got close to Omaha... or we can coach to get to Omaha.. Knowing Dohman as warrior he already knows the answer... Dohman says coach to win it.... So Robe says I'm starting Andy tomorrow.... Dohman stands up... pats Andy on the back and says Coach... Andy will win tomorrow and I'll get us to Omaha...

    Great job bitter.....
I already knew the story and have heard it a couple of times over the past few years, but it was great to hear and read about it again. Kinda gives you the chills!

He also mentioned that David Walker and Scott farmer have stepped up to help out football and basketball recruiting budgets. From my understanding, the athletic dept has given these coaches what they think they need in order to be competative in recruiting. Therefore, until the university or athletic dept step up for ALL sports in the athletic dept, how can these coaches be held accountable and compared to basketball and football. Robe has ALWAYS done more with less, as well as the softball program. I'm sure Tony and the lotiefs would love to just be given a large enough recruiting budget and just have to worry about "coaching and recruiting" as opposed to being a coach and be in charge of raising enough money in order to recruit. Yea there have been improvements to our facility, but until the university steps up for these spring sports, I c it as an uneven playing field. I've heard about all these plans for improvements, but I'll believe it when I c it. I doubt this will be done in a very timely manner

All coaches have had to do more with less, hence our next to last athletic budget in D-1. However, the effects of this discrepancy in funds affects the bigger budget sports more than it does others..i.e baseball. Recruiting budgets alone often exceed 1 million dollars for football at larger schools. Nobody is complaining about anyone coach here. Some of us have mentioned that we'd like to see equitable criticism.

If you have a subscription to the Ragin Station video section under Ragincajuns.com, you can watch the entire game online. All you have to do is use the search function, and use the word clemson under the "keyword search" box.
