Yep and even some of his own major money supporters like billionaire Mort Zuckerman had this to say about his his legislation at the Liberal Aspen summit this past week. ""'The real problem we have,' Mort Zuckerman said, 'are some of the worst economic policies in place today that, in my judgment, go directly against the long-term interests of this country.'"
Given the body of evidence of his initiatives and political nature, I said has not sat back and done nothing, but simply taken politcal avantage of the BP disaster. So again I ask you, what has he done that gives you confidence that any policy changes coming out of this committee will be nothing more then disastrous for Louisiana's economy and the oil industry?
well if I told you what i thought of his initiatives it would have nothing to do with the issue we are talking about here. We don't all think like you do and some of his things have been positive. whether they pan out or not is yet to be seen but that is neither here or there when it comes to making sure percaussions are put in place before this happens again. This is not a political issue, its an environmental disaster and the two should not be confused.
I'm with the majority in this country right now, the over 60% that think this country is headed down the wrong path with him in the White House. I know you are young, so you may not have a mortgage, three kids and any plan to retire in the future. I understand enough of what his redistribution of wealth policies will mean financially to my family, neighbors and children’s future. No, this is an environmental disaster and that has been made into a political issue by this moratorium, pushed by the environmental extremes in his party. You are right, the two should not have ever been confused, because the government is required legally to help clean up this mess under the "Clean Water Act."
But when the adminstration has an "anti-oil industry" agenda to begin with and are using this accident as a way to put a stop on drilling then it has become a politcal issue. The fact is that he doesn't need the moratorium to stop drilling, he controls the committee that gives out drilling permits! All he has to do is tell them not to give out permits (which he will do now that the moratorium was over ruled).
And, as someone stated earlier if the government hadn't pushed the drilling rigs out so far in the first place it would have been alot easier to stop the leaking. How many wells have been drilled in the gulf, and how many times has this happened? Measures are in place to prevent this from happening, unfortunetley that measure (the B.O.P.) failed.
B/c The Great Raping of the American People or the Governmnet take over of Health Care as most people refer to it will do so much good for this country!?! No, it will hurt us in more ways than we know at the present.
All you have to do is take Econ 101 to know that the govt. running anything is doomed from the start to cost more than anticipated and not be as effective or productive than it would be if ran by the private sector.
