As a resident and native of south Louisiana, I find it absurd that our state colleges and universities would approve of cutting foreign language degree programs, most notably French.

In a recent meeting, the University of Louisiana System board voted in favor of terminating French and French education degrees at Southeastern Louisiana University.

Similar votes are in effect for French degrees at Northwestern State and LSU, and Nicholls State has already seen the termination of its French program.
