Thread: Good Luck from NC

Indeed, I was just looking at your roster and minutes. Very similar in size and strengths/weaknesses. The difference seems to be that NC State gets most of its points from Hodge and Melvin, wereas the Cajuns spread it around a bit more. We are going to need to create some turnovers and baskets in transition along with good perimeter shooting to win this one. I would prefer to play a team where we have a mismatch or two, but I don't see one here. Is Hodge a bomber or a dribble penetrator or both?

Although Hodge can hit the three when left open, this is not his forte'. His shot looks rather awkward, but his touch is good enough to keep his defender honest.

His bread and butter is the taking it to the rack and about half the time getting fouled. He's very slender at 6'7", but he's very tough and aggressive with his Harlem bravado. He's definately not the most liked player in the league, but he is one of the most respected. Nobody works harder.

This point has not been brought up, but our biggest asset as a team is our foul shooting ability. We average right at 80% from the stripe. Which, I think leads the country. If we have a 4/5pt lead with less than a minute to go, it's usually light out.

Our problem, however, has been holding on to the lead. We lost a 19pt. halftime lead to Maryland in the ACC tourney. We also seem to get out of sink for 5-7min. spurts and have long scoring droughts.

I can't wait till Friday. Already told me English teacher I'm skipping to watch the game.

Also, should NCSU happen to beat us Friday, I will be rooting for you guys. Y'all have been a classy bunch of fans. But I'm not expecting an NCSU win, I'm expecting a UL win!!!! Good luck this Friday.

somewhat of a question for fans of both schools, with the hope of fun..

whom do you think NC State coach herb sendek called first.. monty towe or archie miller ?

any guesses who the cajun staff may have called for insight to prepare for friday's game?

Let's hope they talked to messy monte 1st. That guy has no respect for UL. Keep NCst overconfident.

I would have to be 99% certain he'd call Arch first. Sendek has had a long standing relationship with the Miller family. Miller was an assistant of sorts on the staff last year. His older brother Sean, now Assistant Head Coach of Xavier, was on the staff until 2 years ago.

I would think he would get the most info from Coach Towe though.

Why the "messy Monte" comment? Why would a team that is the regular season and conference champion get no respect from another conference foe?

All I know about Towe is from his playing days at NC State. In 74 he was the spark plug on a team that went on to win our first National Championship. He was small in stature but big in heart. If you ever see the 74 Wolfpack team on ESPN classic look for the little white boy running like mad. He's a fierce competitor.

Sounds like Hodge is a)a lot like Kevin Brooks, and b)likely to get into a fight with Cedric Williams, our resident hothead.

Doubtful on the fighting, he may cause a player to go over the edge and draw a tech, but since his incident last year with Maryland pt. guard Steve Blake(elbow to the head after a cheap shot from Blake), he has kept his cool. He just talks a lot of trash, nothing more.
