BALTIMORE (AP) - Baltimore police say an active-duty Marine was
shot to death in an after-hours club while out with fellow Marines
celebrating their deployment to Afghanistan.
It happened around 3:15 a.m. Friday. Police spokesman Anthony
Guglielmi (goo-lee-EHL'-mee) says there was a fight inside the
club, which is near a collection of downtown strip joints known as
The Block. The Marine was shot to death on the dance floor.
The victim was 26 years old and was from New Orleans. Police
aren't releasing his name until his relatives and the Pentagon are
notified.
No gun was recovered, and police have no suspects. Guglielmi
says homicide detectives are interviewing numerous witnesses.
The victim is at least the third current or former Marine to be
slain in Baltimore this year.
