  2. Default Shark Caught in Atchafalaya Basin

An Acadiana fisherman made quite the catch on the Atchafalaya Basin near Lake Warner, reeling in a five foot Bull Shark.
"A shark is about the most unusual thing in freshwater I've caught," exclaimed 76 year old Wilven Hayes.
After getting the shark out of his net, Hayes brought the shark back to shore to take pictures, before releasing it back into the Atchafalaya Basin.
Officials with the Department of Wildlife & Fisheries say it's not unusual for sharks to make their way to the Basin, especially during the summer months. It was however, a first for Hayes, who says he's been fishing the Atchafalaya since he was six years old.
