A benefit soccer game will be held this Saturday, July 3 in New Orleans for Lafayette family. The Murphy family is dealing with the aftermath of a tragic crash in South Africa, that took the life of Nicole Murphy. Nicole was killed after being struck by a drunken driver on June 15 while attending the World Cup in South Africa. She suffered a concussion in the crash. Their brother Brian Murphy remains in critical condition and in a medically induced coma in South Africa from injuries he suffered in the wreck. The Murphy Memorial match will help raise money for the Murphy family, including LSU students and soccer players Kellie and Danielle Murphy, siblings of Nicole Murphy and Brian Murphy.A special fund has been established at Home Bank to help cover the family's medical expenses. It is unclear if the family's insurance will cover any expenses because the accident happened in a foreign country. The cost of transporting Brian Murphy home could be more than $300,000. The benefit match will be from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday at Louisiana Avenue Field at Tchoupitoulas Street. Admission is on a donation basis, with $25 being charged per player. Donations can also be sent to the Murphy Family Support Fund at Home Bank. Checks can be dropped off at any Home Bank location or mailed to Home Bank...
