People looking for answers about the Crude Disaster now have a new way to access information. No more searching websites or calling hotlines. Instead, BP employees are standing by, in the flesh, to talk with you face to face.
"Our goal is pretty simple, we're here to protect the lives and livelihoods of people," BP employee and Response Team volunteer, Jason Thompson said.
BP now has a new Community Outreach Center in New Iberia. It's a facility that will provide information on anything residents may need to know about the oil spill. And, BP employees are the staff.
"We're here for the community and we want to let them know that BP is here. We're taking this serious." BP Contractor, Roland Patton said.
The Center is set up with information about claims, the clean-up effort, job training, and much more.
"We don't have more information than what's available online, but hopefully if there are issues that haven't been brought up before... we can take them to BP to get action on those issues," said Thompson.
BP employees say they also hope, with the opening of this center, they're able to show another side of the company.
"BP is not a villain. We're out here to try to help and we want to put a positive spin and do the right thing," said Patton.
The Community Outreach Center is located at 616 S. Lewis St. in New Iberia. It's open 7 days a week from 8:30am-5:30pm.
