The iPhone 4 debuted Thursday with record pre-sales, and locals were already lined up outside the Best Buy in Lafayette before at 7am.
The highly anticipated gadget has 10 times more pre orders nationwide compared to the last launch, with 600,000 pre-sales in the first day.
Even in this tough economy, people are excited to dole out cash for these gadgets.
Those who did not order early are out of luck. Just minutes after the doors opened, the hundred phones in stock at Best Buy were gone.
Many customers, however, are still coming in to pre-order, hoping to get their phones within the next few weeks.
Best Buy manager Casey Courville says it is the features that draw in the crowds.
"A front-facing camera that allows you to do facetime which lets you view who you're calling from iPhone 4 to iPhone 4, a camera with a 5 megapixel flash, high definition video..." Casey says are some of the new features.
