Ten miles south of Abbeville is an $18 million state park that is complete, but up until Monday, only a handful of people had been able to see just how beautiful the state park really is.

An open house was held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and the public was invited to tour Palmetto State Park, located south of Abbeville, near Seventh Ward Elementary.

Close to 600 vehicles went through the entrance gate in a three-hour period.
“This is nice,” said Tracy Clark as he walked through one of six cabins that was built to be rented. “I love the porch. You walk outside and you see nothing but woods.”

Visitors were able to walk through each cabin, along with touring each building in the park.
