Q&A with Colts President Bill Pollian
Q: How does the Pro Bowl balloting work? Colts wide receiver Brandon Stokley isn’t on the ballot and he’s one of the NFL’s leading receivers.A: Pro Bowl is basically selected by somebody in the league office who doesn’t know a heck of a lot about football, frankly. They just put names in there, household names. Often, the players who are deserving don’t get to go because the names get to go. I can think of three players last year in the AFC that we coached out at the Pro Bowl that clearly didn’t belong there. It happens. The Pro Bowl, to me, always has been a very subjective and dicey situation. Unless the players and coaches vote 100 percent, to me, it ends up being a political thing. The players’ and coaches’ vote counts two-thirds right now and fan balloting counts for the other third. I don’t know how the fan voting is tabulated. I know it’s done by computer, but I don’t know how it’s calculated. LINK
