another reason why Notre Dame will NEVER EVER join a conference is...

LSU goes to the national championship game. They split the payout with the other 11 SEC schools.

Notre Dame goes to ANY bowl, they split the payout with NOBODY. Touchdown Jesus has himself a monopoly!

That's why you will NEVER see Notre Dame in a conference for football as long as the NCAA allows it. 40 years down the road if there still are independent schools in football, Notre Dame will definitely be one of them.

Nice list, I forgot how weak the Big East had gotten. CUSA wasn't far behind, followed by WAC and Sunbelt.

Big E that is the problem with this board. The quote was half written and then posted. I could not delete it. My point is that while ND has an NBC contract they are on a short leash. NBC is taking a beating because ND continue to be lackluster program. I feel certain that NBC pretty much told them to start winning or look for a reduction in the payment.

A quote from Michigan, what is in it for us to play ND? What they are saying is that they are losing a home game to play ND, and get very little in return. ND while the premier school in the history of the NCAA has lost some of its' gold, and they need to be able to continue to schedule teams like Michigan to retain their contract, yet Michigan is making noises like they may discontinue the series. Conference affiliation will continue to dominate and I suspect within the next decade ND will have to cast its' lot with somebody.

To me that means they are on tv probation.

I understand. I did not mean to post it and once posted could not recall or delete it. You are correct they are not on tv probation which makes it sound like and NCAA thing. Unfortunately my fingers type faster than my editing sometimes.

I understand now, and that does make sense. I don't see ND getting better anytime soon. I think they will fire their coach after another poor season this year, and then the pressure is on. If they don't start winning, they may be forced to join a conference once NBC packs their bags and parts ways.
