I don't plan on bailing out I'm just ticked off that players think they can do this and still play. But Coach Bustle did the right thing. I'm sure at Nebraska they would have hushed the whole thing up.

LOUISIANA La. — Ragin' Cajun head football coach Rickey Bustle is taking a different approach to this year’s Cajun Bowl.

For one thing, he has a pair of local TV sportscasters serving as head coaches of the two teams — KATC-TV’s Scott Brazda leading the red team and George Faust of KLFY-TV heading the white squad — for today’s 1 p.m. contest at Cajun Field.

Beyond that, though, the game will have a different look than the first two under Bustle.

“Before,” Bustle said, “the spring game has been part of situations we needed to get accomplished. We’ve changed it up some this year, with a draft on Thursday to make it interesting for the kids.

“We’re also not going to sit around grading film from the game, because a lot of these players haven’t been working together. We’ve already got a lot of film on team and down-and-distance situations.

“We will be looking at film for what we’ve been teaching, and how they perform as individuals. I want them to go out and compete, and I think it’s going to be some fun.”

Verbal exchanges have already started between the two selected teams. Bragging rights on the line, but the losing team from today’s game will also have to serve members of the winning team at a team dinner later this spring.

That’s part of the added spice this year for Bustle, who already has plenty to evaluate from spring drills.

“I’ve been really happy with our defense,” said Bustle, whose team is changing schemes for the 2004 campaign. “We obviously don’t have the whole defense in yet, but I think they’ve made a good transition.

“I also think our running game has gotten better. We haven’t thrown the ball like we’d like, but we’ve emphasized the running game this spring. I think we’ll be able to throw the ball, but we wanted to be able to take some of the pressure off the passing game.

Yeah I've been a fan for about six months now, It's more fun to follow you guys then jump on the bandwagon of Miami, Oklahoma, or Texas. Besides there's no good teams in New York anyway.

I listened to the first half before the internet messed up on me. Dwight Lindon sounded like a man possessed. Justin Venable did some time at Fullback. When I lost the signal the white were winning 14-0

Hard to give an accurate discription because of the nature of the game. To say that Luke Sniewski number 11 made a good showing would be the highlight of the game for me. To bad S. Comisky missed the game winner. Dwight Lindon looks like he will be a force in the fall.

Red/White Game ends in 14-14 Push

LOUISIANA La. - Spring football came to a close for Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns on Saturday afternoon with the Annual Red/White Spring Game. Weather conditions were perfect, as temperatures sat in the mid-70’s with plenty of sunshine.

The game had plenty of excitement throughout, but ended in an uneventful 14-14 draw. Sean Comiskey had a chance to win the game for White with an uncontested 46-yard field goal, but the blast carried wide left with one second remaining in the game.

White built a 14-0 halftime lead, only to see Red storm back with 14 second half points to tie the game.

B.J. Crist opened the scoring in the first quarter with a 24-yard touchdown pass from Luke Sniewski.

After each team traded a series, White’s Ross Rix ran four straight times for 38 yards, before fullback Justin Venable gained 11 more yards. Following five straight runs, Sniewski went to the air and found Crist open in the middle of the end zone for the score.

Dwight Lindon’s four-yard touchdown plunge with 42 seconds remaining in the first half gave White a two-score edge at the break. Lindon ran three times on the drive for 17 yards and caught an 11-yard pass from Sniewski.

Jerry Babb led the Red comeback. Babb went 3-for-3 passing for 24 yards and added a four-yard rush to help Red’s third quarter scoring drive. A 15-yard personal foul-face mask aided the drive, which ended with a six-yard touchdown toss from Babb to fullback Travis Cones.

I also thought Venable looked good. So did the Red FB Travis Cones. In addition to the runs both of them had some nice catches out of the backfield; pretty good for Fullbacks.

I took in the Red & White game this afternoon. Not bad. I saw some improvements over last year. The running backs looked good.....Lindon,Nix and Levier. Babb was fairly steady. New QB Sniewski looked good. He is an excellent passer, not too mobile, however. Game ended in a tie 14-14. Sean Comiskey missed on a 46 yd FG wide left. You could have sworn he had missed the winning field for the national championship. What a competitor! Our Krewe also got in a little tailgating. Had crawfish etouffe, green salad, and toasted garlic bread. Just a little warm up for the coming season.

That would be me! Been a Cajuns fan ever since I was a little kid. Remember getting psyched when USL was on ESPN with Marty Fletcher havin' a fit, watchin' former Cajuns Byron Starks, Todd Hill, Aaron Mitchell, Michael Allen, Bryan Collins, and others.
