That is actually our name since all of these genious' decided they want to change us from USL to UL-L. Can you believe that? Take a chill pill bro!! There is more to life...............

Well, if you think so. I am just facing reality, unlike some of us "pipe dream" fans. You know as well as I do that we absolutely CANNOT compete with the folks to the east of us! Like I said, it's all about opinions and most of all REALITY!!!!!!!! Peace out bro! Smoke another one for me!

UL Football 2 Cajuns arrested and off the team!!!!!

    Guys,
Maybe I shouldn't be posting this, so forgive me if I offend anyone, but I read in the Advertiser today that Bill Sampy and Demitrious Brooks were arrested on Girard Park Dr. for possession of marijuana. I want to believe it's not our guys, but it seems pretty bleak right now. Anyone know if there is any truth to this?

    Brooks, Sampy off team

LOUISIANA La. — UL Lafayette’s football team staged their draft for Saturday’s Cajun Bowl spring game on Thursday, but a pair of Cajuns was missing from the list.

Coach Rickey Bustle suspended offensive lineman Demetrios Brooks and wide receiver Bill Sampy from the program for violating team rules, one day after the two were booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on drug-related charges.

Brooks was charged with marijuana possession with intent to distribute, as well as abuse of a monetary instrument.

Sampy faces charges of marijuana possession.

Both players had been considered key performers for the 2004 Ragin’ Cajuns, who are wrapping up spring drills this week.

Brooks, a 6-foot-3, 290-pound senior-to-be from Irving, Texas, was one reason the Cajuns averaged 335.5 yards and 22.2 points per game en route to a 4-8 finish in 2003.

Senior receiver Sampy caught 39 passes for 486 yards and three touchdowns last season, second on the team to Fred Stamps (62-973-7), and was among returnees trying to fill the gap left by Stamps’ departure. He also had 25 kickoff returns for 467 yards.

Key remaining receivers include Kemmie Lewis, B.J. Crist, Jordan Jackson, Ty Brown and Eddie Brown.

I am taking the red and laying three points. This should be more exciting than the two previous red and white games since Coach Bustle has taken over.

What the hell were they thinking? I must say, I applaud both Coach Evans and Coach Bustle for making the right (and very dificult) decision to remove these problems from the program. I honestly would rather loose every game we play with guys who bust there buts, day in and day out, and who want to be here, that to go undefeated with guys who make stupid decisions like this. There is no loyalty to the coaching staff, the other players or to themselves when these players make stupid decisions.

GOOD JOB, Coach Bustle and Coach Evans!!!!!

This is an embarrassment. I'm a wildcard fan with no connection to the University what so ever. I followed this team starting in 2003 in football because they were the ultimate underdog and fun to cheer for. Since I started following them the team posted a 4-1 record. I was looking forward to the return of Bill Sampy.

Then I followed the Basketball team from the beginning of there campaign, won the conference outright, tourney and season. Made the NCAA. Two starters, seniors, gone.

This sort of thing makes me reconsider my D-1 college affiliation.

"Cajun D represents". Obviously you have not watched a TRUE Spring Game with LIVE referees over the past 5 years. Pass interference will be called four times saturday.... guaranteed.

Don't bail out, 91!! Sad to see this happen to our football team, and hopefully they will not be missed. At the same time you can be proud of the fact that Bustle did not hem and haw over this incident. He delivered his "message" effectively, with no reservations. Sad to say but you have these elements in college and professional sports. You do your best to educate the athletes on the use of drugs, but some guys never listen. They know it all, and rationalize that their actions are not hurting anyone. Stupid is, as stupid does!!
