How about a nice big ol' LOUISIANA across the front? That would make my day. Also, I've always hated those gayish numbers. OK for any other sport but not football.

Replace the player name with LOUISIANA, and BLOCK NUMBERS SO WE CAN READ THEM.

I'd like to see Louisiana in big letters across the front above the number and a small Lafayette under the Louisiana ala our basketball jerseys. Keep the names on the back, and I'm not sure about this stripe thing. I never did like the newer nfl style jerseys such as Denver. I personally like our uniforms, but maybe a few tweaks wouldn't hurt.

Instead of Lafayette under Louisiana I like to see the initials ULA.

I've got a couple of letters to those who have a problem with LOUISIANA on the uniform - F.U.

even better. I would like to see everyone use ULA as our abreviation. I really liked seeing ULA on ESPN for the conference tourney. Too bad it didn't last.

New defense shows signs of success

LOUISIANA la. — With a little over a week left in spring drills, Louisiana defensive coordinator Brent Pry sees good signs from his unit.

The Ragin’ Cajuns are installing a new defensive look for 2004, attempting to improve on last season’s 4-8 finish, and the scheme has its plusses.

“The first thing that comes to mind is that we’re a lot more consistent,” Pry said.“The simplicity of the scheme allows our players to be right more often. The second thing is experience. Our players have been here and they understand the game a little better, so we’re playing with more consistency.”

Pry’s aim is to cut down on long gains by UL foes, and early returns against the UL offense are encouraging.

“We’re trying to minimize big plays,” Pry said. “We’ve had 11 practices so far, we have yet to give up a touchdown outside of our goalline situations.

“We’re still looking for a little help, personnel-wise, in the defensive line and at linebacker.”

The Cajuns are scrimmaging at 1 p.m. today at Cajun Field, setting the stage for the Cajun Bowl spring game a week from today.

  10. This is a GREAT IDEA

Lindon having fun during spring drills

LOUISIANA La. — Dwight Lindon has been through enough football seasons to know the drill during spring practice, and he’s figured out a way to make the best of it.

“I’m just having fun,” said Lindon, whose hard running was one of the highlights of Louisiana's Saturday scrimmage at Cajun Field. “Sometimes in college football, you forget why you started to play the game. I’ve decided to have fun, and just go from there.

“Spring practice is pretty much the same. It’s different from the season, in that you have a little more healing time between practices.”

Lindon made certain he dished out as much punishment as he received on Saturday. Locked in a battle for carries with Josh Harrison and Abdule Levier, the former Comeaux High star ran 17 times for 88 yards on the day.

He scored on a one-yard plunge in goal line work. The Cajun defense still has not allowed a touchdown in normal play this spring.

“It’s going good,” Lindon said. “The offensive line is blocking better than they did last spring, and during last season.”

“The running backs ran hard,” UL coach Rickey Bustle said. “Obviously, the offensive line did some good things. I’m still not happy with our quarterbacks, although Jerry Babb had some nice reads and got on the corner running the ball.

“The defense took control of the game early, then the offense moved the ball well in the red zone. In goal line, the defense made a great stop on fourth down. Then when we got out in our normal plays, we gave up yards but made a stop and then got a sack.”

The Cajun offense is trying a new look, just as the defense is this spring, trying to counter the opposition’s moves before the snap.

D.Lindon has really matured into an every down back. He rarely misses assignments, runs hard, and catches well out of the backfield.

    More importantly he competes off the field as well{i.e. classroom}

In a deep backfield, he is definently the leader. I just hope he stays healthy.

I've watched him the past 3 years and he really hasnt done anything on the field. But he is a great leader out there on the feild He is a great kid also, makes good grades and takes care of his business. Wish him better luck this year in his performance on the field.

    Go cajuns ,
